AES is offering two workshops on Sunday,
October 16 from 1:00* to 5:00 PM at the Millenium Hotel, 1313 Nicollet Mall, 1 block from the Minneapolis Convention Center
AES Workshop I — 2-D Electrophoresis, Principles and Methods
Instructors are Drs. Phil Beckett (GE Healthcare Biosciences) and Tom Berkelman (Bio-Rad Laboratories). The workshop covers the technique of 2-D electrophoresis using immobilized pH gradient isoelectric focusing (IPG-IEF) for the first dimension. Coverage includes sample preparation, first dimension IEF, second dimension SDS-PAGE, staining, imaging, gel analysis and 2-D DIGE. Registration is $25.
AES Workshop II — Microscale Electrokinetics Simulations using COMSOL.
Instructor is John Dunec, Branch Manager of COMSOL. The instructor will provide copies of the latest COMSOLv4.2 numerical simulation software, including a two-week temporary license, and work through four example problems from the morning session on electrokinetic transport in micro/nano-fluidic devices. Workshop runs 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM; *come for software installation and informal lunch at 12:00 noon. Registration is $25.
